10 Tips to Healt Hair
Moisturize your hair, I repeat… moisturize your hair!
Because my hair has always been so fine, I used to dread adding or layering products in my hair, why? Limpness. However, since creating my hair products, my hair has never thrived so much. Yes, I layer products to add moisture, and now my wash last 4-5 days easy. Both lines, offer superior moisture and mix and match.
Never (ever) brush or comb your hair when it is dry
This is an absolute no no, never comb your hair when its dry. This causes so much stress and breakage. Our refresh mist is perfect the perfect option to detangle your hair. You can also start with a pre-poo to detangle by using either our Rice styling cream, or our Blueberry and Flaxseed conditioning cream and mask.
Avoid shampoos that contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)
That part… our shampoos do not contain this horrible product, and yours do, it is definitely time to make that switch. Let’s move on.
Clarify
Clarifying your scalp is extremely important in balancing the Ph of your hair and scalp. The best ingredient to clarify your hair is apple cider vinegar (ACV) which is perfect mixed with our Clay Hair Masque, and can be found in your local grocery store. Also alpha-olefin sulfonate which is not a sulfate (SLS), this ingredient is all natural and helps balance your hair’s Ph naturally, yep it’s in both shampoos.
Care for your ends
Those split ends are not appealing at all, and for us wash and go curls, we tend to hold off a little longer to get a trim, however a regular trim has never hurt anybody, plus by removing those dead and brittle ends, you help keep your hair healthy and this promotes growth. So go ahead and trim those ends, just use our Hair Oil to help your hair grow back and seal moisture into those ends to prevent breakage.
Avoid direct heat styling
Air dry whenever necessary, even though some styles may require the use of a blow dryer and/or a flat iron, try to avoid direct heat exposure as too much can cause hair breakage. When you can use rollers and sit under a dryer.
Listen to your hair
You may hear people say certain products work better in my hair at different times. For me, this is true during colder months, my holy grail is my Blueberry and Flaxseed line, as its slighter light and during these months, and I am not fighting with humidity. However, during the warmer months, my RGP line is my go too. Your hair will tell you what it needs… you just have to listen.
Do a hot oil treatment or deep conditioning weekly
Boom, that part. A hot oil treatment or deep conditioning is VERY important. It helps to seal and lock in moisture, which again promotes healthy hair!! Our hair oil can also be used a hot oil treatment! Read your labels!
Give your Natural Hair a Break
Yes, our natural hair needs a break. Therefore, protective styles such as a ponytail, brails or wig are the best methods to allow your hair a chance to breath.
Stock up on omega 3 essential fatty acids (EFAs)!
Avocados are my absolute favorite, as they are packed with Omega 3 EFAs which help combat dry and brittle hair, hair loss, dry, flaky scalp and reduced circulation to the scalp. Don’t like to eat avocados, no worry, just pick up our Rice, Guava & Papaya hair line! Packed with Avocado and Guava oil to help protect your hair!
Let's get into showing up for ourselves in 2023! New Year, New You!
